Configure Restrictions, Discounts, and Surcharges for a Membership Product
Objective
Set up product-level rules that restrict who can purchase a membership, apply discounts for specific member groups, or add surcharges when needed. This SOP helps ensure pricing and eligibility rules are applied consistently within the club system.

Key Steps
1. Open the membership product and
locate rule settings 0:00

- Open the target membership product (for example, the race
product).
- Go to the main component of the membership.
- Find the section for restrictions, discounts, and surcharges on the membership form under Members Benefits.
- Use this area to control who can buy the product and at what
price.
2. Create a purchase restriction rule 0:37

- If you need to prevent certain people from purchasing the
membership, add a purchase rule.
- Example use case: block junior members from buying a
membership.
- Enter a clear rule name, such as No Junior Members.
- Select Add new rule to begin configuring the
restriction.
3. Choose the rule type and available
conditions 0:55

- In the rule automation section, review the available
predefined rule types.
- Common rule options include:
- Member age
- Club profile information
- Membership type held
- Role held
- Date-based rules
- Credentials
- Choose the rule type that matches the business requirement
before setting the condition details.
4. Configure an age-based restriction 1:49

- To restrict membership by age, set the rule to use a specific
date.
- Example configuration:
- Condition: member is older than a specified age
- Date reference: previous 1st of January
- Age threshold: 18
- Untick the check cart option – if required
- Save the rule so the product is restricted to members who meet
the age requirement.
5. Set up a discount for a specific
member group 2:20

- Use the same rule functionality to create a discount instead of a restriction.
- Example use case: offer a lower price for junior members.
- Create a discount rule and define the group that should receive
the reduced price.
- Confirm whether the discount should apply automatically when
the member meets the rule.
6. Choose percentage or fixed-dollar
discount 2:37

- Decide how the discount should be calculated:
- Percentage discount: enter the
decimal value, such as 0.15 for 15%.
- Fixed-dollar discount: enter the
dollar amount to subtract from the price, remember that all prices are
monthly so the $ figure you include will calculate each month for monthly
payment, or 12 times for an annual payment e.g a $1 discount in this
section will provide a $12 discount annually.
- Use the percentage option when the discount should scale with
the product price.
- Use the fixed-dollar option when the final price needs to be a
specific amount.
7. Apply date-based discount logic 3:24

- If the discount depends on a date condition, choose either:
- Specified date
- Current date
- You can also use a year-based reference such as:
- Previous January 1st
- Next January 1st
- Set the age/date condition so the discount applies only to the
intended group, such as members younger than 18 on the selected reference
date.
8. Review surcharge setup and confirm
the rule behavior 3:47

- If needed, configure a surcharge using the same process
as restrictions and discounts.
- Verify that the rule logic matches the intended outcome before
saving.
- Confirm the product now reflects the correct restriction,
discount, or surcharge behavior for the selected member group.
Cautionary Notes
- Ensure age and date conditions are set correctly, especially
when using previous or next year references.
- all prices are monthly so the $ figure you include will
calculate each month for monthly payment, or 12 times for an annual
payment e.g a $1 discount in this section will provide a $12 discount
annually.
- Percentage discounts must be entered as decimals, not whole
numbers (for example, 0.15 instead of 15).
- Double-check whether the rule should restrict, discount,
or surcharge the product before saving.
- Test the rule with a sample member profile to confirm the
system applies the correct pricing or access control.
