Add a Custom Field to the Membership Purchase Journey

Add a Custom Field to the Membership Purchase Journey

Objective

Explain how to add an existing custom field to one or more membership categories so it appears during the membership purchase process. It also covers optional visibility rules and saving the membership setup correctly.

Key Steps

1. Open the Membership Setup Area 0:12

  • Locate the Membership Setup tile in your system.
  • Open the membership category you want to update.
  • Remember: the field must be added individually to each membership category where it should appear.

2. Edit the Membership Category 0:27

  • Select Edit on the membership category.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the membership page.
  • Find the second section used to capture additional requirements for memberships.

3. Add the Custom Field 0:47

  • Add the custom field you previously created.
  • Confirm the field appears in the membership requirements section.
  • If the field was created as required, it will remain required unless you change it here.

4. Adjust Field Requirements and Visibility Rules 0:56

  • Decide whether the field should remain mandatory or be changed to non-mandatory.
  • If needed, set visibility rules for specific members, found in the setting cog.
  • Example: make the field visible only to members 18 years or older if the question should only apply to adults.

5. Save the Membership Setup 1:35

  • Review the membership configuration to ensure the field is added correctly.
  • Click Save for the full membership setup.
  • After saving, the field will appear during the membership purchase journey for that category.

Cautionary Notes

  • Add the field to each membership category separately; it does not apply automatically to all categories.
  • If the field is marked required, members will not be able to complete purchase without answering it.
  • Visibility rules can limit who sees the field, so confirm any age-based or conditional settings before saving.
  • Always save the full membership record after making changes, or the field will not appear in the purchase journey.
